Endress+Hauser’s wet flow calibration rig in Manchester has achieved accreditation from UKAS, the sole national accreditation body for the United Kingdom. UKAS is recognised by the government to assess organisations that provide certification, testing, inspection and calibration services.
UKAS accreditation proves that a company’s calibration services meet the requirements of ISO 17025, the international standard for testing and calibration laboratories. The rigorous auditing process tests the quality and method of the calibration as well as the competency of technicians carrying out the work, the process of creating and storing documentation and the traceability of reference standards.
The route to UKAS accreditation is not easy: for Endress+Hauser it was a two-year process and annual audits are needed to ensure the quality is maintained. But Internal Repair and Calibration Team Leader Mohsin Patel says it brings huge benefits: “Our customers can trust completely that the way we’re doing calibrations, and the way we’re reporting results, is fully traceable and it’s done as per the ISO 17025 standard. It means they can rely on the accuracy of their flowmeters, which is important in all industries but particularly in quality-critical applications in the life sciences, oil & gas and food & beverage sectors.”
Quality at competitive prices
As the manufacturer, Endress+Hauser knows its devices better than any other company offering calibration services. And there are other advantages to choosing Endress+Hauser. “Compared to the other accredited calibration laboratories in the UK, we are competitive on price and offer a better turnaround,” explains Mohsin Patel. “Our standard turnaround is 3–5 working days compared to the 10–15 working days offered by other providers.” Any adjustment that’s needed is carried out at no extra cost.
